South Carolina sees Red...In a Good Way on March 28th...
In four counties, somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,600 volunteers stepped outside their box and served in a fashion that I have not witnessed in the 10 plus years of Food From The Heart food drives. Here are the totals:
Shandon Church (Richland County) ~ 65,185 lbs
Northside Baptist (Lexington County) ~ 54,507 lbs
Greenville/Spartanburg County ~ 61,123 lbs
For a grand total of 180,815 lbs...That is just over 90 TONS of food collected for those in need.
You should all be incredibly proud of your efforts. I would love to hear about your day of service. How did God bless you? What did you learn? Your testimonies would be of great assistance in preparing me and the team I will be forming for the state wide food drive in the fall.
God Bless you all and God Bless America!

July 2008 - Spartanburg, South Carolina
At First Baptist North Spartanburg, we believe that part of our mandate from God is to help those who are in need. The question has always been what is the best way to do that. We have found the answer in Food From The Heart. In the summer of 2008, on one day, our church collected 38 tons of food and baby supplies from grocery stores all over our county. We stocked the shelves of virtually every benevolence ministry in Spartanburg County.
Our whole church was involved in this powerful ministry that shared the love of Christ with an entire county. Our people were not sure what to expect as we had never done anything like this before but now they are excited and looking forward to the next drive. Entire families served that day in front of grocery stores. It was a powerful learning tool for kids to see their parents serving and for them to serve, too. The community responded enthusiastically to what we were doing. People gave entire grocery carts of food. Others came up to our volunteers and put money in their hands thanking them for what they were doing and asking them to use the money to help. Others, with tears in their eyes, asked our volunteers for prayer. They knew they could trust us to pray because they saw we cared.
If your church is looking to make a difference in your community with the gospel of Jesus Christ, Food From The Heart can help you accomplish that goal. We will be carrying out our mandate here in Spartanburg using Food From The Heart from now on and we look forward to seeing what God is going to do as we obey His word and serve in this way.

During the 40 Days of Communinty when Pastor Rick Warren reached out to feed 35,000 hungry and homeless in Orange County, California. The Food From The Heart team and model was used to achieve this amazing goal.
Pastor Rick called the ministry potential unleashed through small groups during the campaign “revolutionary.”
“You cannot be what God made you to be, you cannot do what God created you to do and you cannot fulfill the purposes God made you to fulfill without other people,” Pastor Rick said during the weekend message. “We were made for each other...God made us for a family. That’s why we are starting this new revolution.”
